About DIHCSS
DIHCSS was formed to separate socio-economic activities from the core business of South Sudan People’s Defense Forces. It is precisely to answer this need that the Defense industries Department (DID) has been established to provide that framework for the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces. In order to direct this effort appropriately, correctly and more effectively, DIHCSS is expected to serve primarily the needs of the military. Secondly, the company is expected to produce enough to meet the needs of the local market. Ultimately, the company will venture into the external market, starting from the sub-region.
A seven Member Board for the Defense Industries Company (DIHCSS) of South Sudan People’s Defense Forces was inaugurated in Juba. The inaugural board is composed of the following; the Minister of Defense as the Chairman; the Chief of the Defense staff; the Chief Director, MOD; the Director General (DID) General Headquarters; Director Veterans Affairs; (MOD), a Private Business Man and the Director General Legal Services.
The role of the DID is mainly to provide that linkage with the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces. Therefore, the Military High Command is not involved in the day-to-day running of the organization. The DID is therefore the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces institution that provides the policy direction, guidance and coordination that are required to ensure that DIHCSS remains focused in its activities and mission. The relationship between the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces and DIHCSS is therefore one of policy direction, strategic guidance and coordination.
